Some versions have it that when startled the bird will take off and fly around in ever-decreasing circles until it manages to fly up itself, disappearing completely, which adds to its rarity. Other sources state that the bird flies backwards so that it can admire its own beautiful tail feathers, or because while it does not know where it is going, it likes to know where it has been.

This talk of a bird going backwards when startled reminds me of two differenet domestic breeds of pigeons mainly the parlor tumbler who when scared will flip backwards as in the video below. Another is the Birmingham roller who flips back in the air. Is the Oozlum bird a pigeon? The parlor tumbler or parlor roller originated in Scotland and the United States around 1850 or earlier well the birmingham roller who flips well it flies and was orginated in England and whose time of origin is unknown. Whose to say what the Oozlum bird is but I believe it is a parlor roller or birmingham roller, or even one of the ancestors of these domestic breeds after all it had to come somewhere. So to the ancestor of parlor roller and the birmingham roller the Oozlum.

Scores

http://www.freebase.com/view/en/oozlum_bird
Encyclopedia of pigeon breeds by Wendell M. It is said that this creature casts the shadow of a human. It has a taste for human blood and is said to have been the fall of Rome. When God asked Eve to show her all the children she hid Adam and Liliths and then god said all that are not shown will never be shown so they are now invisible. Like us they have lives (get married, make homes). They live Parallel to us. They are smaller then us though. Some are evil and some are good. You should never leave a baby with them or let a guy be alone with her for she may take him as her lover and he will be gone forever. Sometimes if people leave and go to their homes they find that time has passed fast and their friends are now old.

bibliography

Mack, Carol K., and Dinah Mack. If this was a race of people what would cause evolution even over time to develop this? What could it be used for? Rabbits have long ears so they can hear long distances another is so they can cool their body easier. Do the Panotti need to cool themselves or are they in danger of something? So the Panotti could have used their large ears to either cool themeselves or maybe even put around them for warmth.

Credit to http://www.eaudrey.com/myth/panotti.htm

Short Story by Me
Comming soon
Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01205717524899978942noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1822130934919575799.post-10243581855340037872009-03-31T19:53:00.000-07:002009-03-31T20:20:45.091-07:00Whats your animal? There are many religions that talk about your spirit guide animal. One book even went further with that idea, the golden compass had every person have a daeman, or an animal spirit. It is weird to think of having one and not knowing it. I mean of course most people have a favorite animal. My grandmothers was a squirrel as my grand fathers was a raccoon. If I had to say one it would be pigeons. They talk about how the animal that is yours will guide you and it makes you think what if you really do have an animal.

Short Story by Me (John Adams)
Kyla never felt close to nature being raised in a city like Seattle but she always felt like she was suppose to since she was Native American. Animals were not her thing, she loved flying though. She often thought of flying up in air planes. She always wanted to be a pilot and knew that one day she would get there. She was only 16 right now and she needed to focus on having a life. She would always hang out with her friends and they would go shopping and do normal things. One day she spied a bird just staring at her. It was a wild pigeon and there were always tons of them around in Seattle but this one was weird it was staring directly at her. "You see that bird?" she said to one of her friends. "Which, there are like a thousand of them." her friend said. "That one right there staring at me, it's all alone." "There is nothing there, your scaring me Kyla." "Oh never mind lets go." she said. They left.

The next day Kyla was walking she saw it again, it was the same bird. She kept walking, she looked behind her and again it had followed her just staring at her. She saw a rock and threw it at it but it missed and it kept following her. Soon she got more scared and began running. She got to her door and closed it behind her. She was safe, for now. The next morning she got up and went to the living room where her grandmother was. "Grandma, why are you here where's grandpa?" she asked. Her grandmother's face said it all. "Did he die?" "Yes, Kyla he died." Her grandmother held her for a while. "He wanted you to have this." her grandmother said. She handed her a necklace with a pigeon on it. "This was his favorite animal." Just then Kyla knew why she was being followed by that pigeon. It was her grandfather.Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01205717524899978942noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1822130934919575799.post-43734246446259532152009-03-31T19:11:00.000-07:002009-03-31T23:16:55.552-07:00The rabbit with antlersA jackalope is an interesting creature. Something so unbelievbly fake to people that they instantly know it's not real. But is there a truth behind the Jackalope. Surpringly the answer is yes. A disease that hits rabbits called Shope papilloma virus. It makes them grow tumors near their head. It is even weirder to think of a person going through that but then you think of the tree man and all that he goes through and that is exactly it.

Credits to http://www.pnas.org/cgi/reprint/82/6/1580.pdf
http://ww2.lafayette.edu/~hollidac/jacksforreal.html

Short Story by Me (John Adams)

Kendal liked hunting with her father and the other girls made fun of her for doing something most other girls did not do, but she kept to it. She loved having time with her father. One day she was walking through the woods with her gun she split up from her father. She knew these woods were full of rabbits and that she would be able to get one here. She finally spotted something it was strange, it was a rabbit but it had horns on its head. She pointed her gun at her and shot. She quickly ran back to tell her father what she had seen. When she caught up her father she said "Dad I saw a rabbit with horns on its head." "Nice Joke honey but you know that doesn't exist." "But I saw it come on I’ll show you." She led him down to the area and there was the rabbit. "Oh like a Jack lope, I thought they were fake." he said. "See I showed you it was real." she said. "He leaned down and picked it up, it was dead. The bullet to the head had done it. The rabbit didn't just have horns on its head it tumors on its face. "What wrong with it?" she asked. "I don't know." her father replied. They took it home and showed Kendal's mother, she had been a veterinarian for years. "It's a disease that rabbits get." she said. "is it contagious?" Kendal asked. "No, but its sad if you look at him he wasn't able to eat from all toughs tumors."Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01205717524899978942noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1822130934919575799.post-11958975740326323912009-03-31T13:18:00.000-07:002009-03-31T23:15:22.661-07:00The lady with two mouthsA futakuchi-onna is a woman with a mouth on the back of her head underneath her hair. There are many different stories that talk about how she got the second mouth but most have to do with eating little.

Credits to http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-futakuchi-onna.htm
http://www.lauraplansker.com/new.html

Short Story by Me (John Adams)

Joseph always wanted a wife although he was not a rich man. He ran a grain business and that was all he was able to eat. One day he a woman named Anna, in which he fell madly in love. Well hanging out one day he asked if she would like something to eat. She refused and said that she was never hungry. With toughs words he fell in love her even more and asked her to marry him. After the wedding they began working more into making money from the grain selling business. She would put it in bags.

Soon, seeds began missing and he just thought it was nothing. Soon, more started missing. Then there were only 1/4 of a normal bag. Joseph got very mad at Anna and yelled at her. She denied her doing it. He did not believe her. One day well she was bagging the grain he looked over and to his amazement he saw the back of her hair part on its own and reveal a second mouth. The hair began grabbing at the grain and shoving it into the second mouth. "What is this?" Joseph screamed at Anna. Anna's hair dropped the grain and fell. She turned around eyes full of tears and said "I didn't want you to know what I was" she said. "We can find away to fix you." he said. "We can't, I will not let anyone know what I am." With that her second mouth opened the widest it could and she walked backwards toward him. He never had a chance she swallowed him whole.Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01205717524899978942noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1822130934919575799.post-67831530999113743302009-03-30T22:26:00.000-07:002009-03-31T23:13:14.345-07:00Woman Eating ElephantDuring World War 2, Germany was suffering from severe food shortages, and its zoos animals could not always be given the balanced diet that they had customarily received in peacetime. An elephant had gotten sick and a zookeeper decided to stay after with him inside the exhibit. Upon the next morning another zookeeper found her in pieces. The elephant had eaten her. I found this so scary but not to far from normal since there are deer and sheep that eat birds in order to get calcium.

Credits to from From Flying Toads to Snakes with wings by Dr. Karl P.N. She knew that one of the elephants, an elderly male named Rufus was getting sick and that he may not make it to the morning. She had asked the other zookeepers if she could stay the night and help watch over Rufus. She opened the elephant exhibit and saw that Rufus was by himself as normal. She patted his leg and calmly said “How you doing big guy, ready for are sleep over?” she said. “She looked down at her he was not feeling good. She had fallen asleep next to him.

The police were called within an hour. Screams were heard from the zoo area and it sounded as if a girl were being killed. They assumed it was a prank since a lot of kids in the area always prank called them. Eventually, by the fifth call they sent a man out. He got down there and didn’t hear any screaming. He walked through the zoo. He looked at the zebras, he looked at the lions, he looked at the penguins and there was nothing abnormal it just some animals wanting to go to sleep. He finally reached the elephant enclosure and stopped dead in his tracks. In front of him through the light of his flashlight he could see an arm of a woman. He got on his walky-talky and said “I need back up, homicide.” He looked closer in and saw that something much worse then a normal murder had occurred, Rufus had eaten most of Christine and in his mouth was her severed leg covered in blood. Upon later investigation it was found that something was being missed he wasn’t getting proper calcium so in order for him to get it he began eating Christine.Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01205717524899978942noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1822130934919575799.post-20205806405108327402009-03-30T21:49:00.000-07:002009-03-31T23:11:22.841-07:00The Black CatAnother story that gets my attention is Edgar Allan Poe's the Black Cat. The concept of Karma and the fact that eventually your secrets will be revealed is entracing to me. But beside The Black Cat there are other animals that get revenge for example in one story there is a little black dog that is witnessed to the killing of his owner and then is killed. The Dog goes on haunting the murderer until the murderer is dead. It is amazing in these stories how the animal will fight for the right of their owner.

Credits to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Cat_(short_story)

fofurasfelinas

Short story by me (John Adams)

Alex had always wanted a puppy and when he reached 14 his mother and father said that he responsible enough. They entered a pet store looking for a dog for Alex. No dogs were perfect. They went to 5 different pet stores and again nothing was good enough. Alex was spoiled but this was getting ridiculous. His parents became more aggravated with each time they went to the pet stores. They finally went to an animal shelter. They looked around and again nothing was good enough for Alex. That was until he saw Jasper. Jasper had just been brought in from a dangerous situation. His mother was breed repeatedly to give birth to attack dogs. He was a pit-bull and they were going to put him to sleep. Alex saw him and he knew that this dog was the only dog for him. Somehow Alex’s dad got the dog from the animal shelter. They brought him home and they became instantly inseparable. Alex never thought of Jasper as an attack dog and he knew that Jasper loved him.

4 years had passed and Jasper and Alex had grown even closer as they grew older. Alex always had Jasper in the passenger seat of his car whenever he could. Unfortunately, at that time a man by the name of Rick was being let out of jail. He was the same man that had breed Jasper’s mom and had been planning to use Jasper as an attack dog. One day Alex and Jasper drove by his car and he looked in and knew just then that Jasper was the same dog. Jasper was his perfect attack dog and he knew he had to get Jasper back. He followed Alex and Jasper in his car. Alex pulled up at the grocery store. “I’ll be back in a few minutes.” Alex said to Jasper. Jasper just wept and laid down. Rick pulled up next to the car and looked in. He waited. When Alex came out he looked around seeing that no one was there and shot him in the chest.

He opened the door and tried to Jasper out of the car. When Jasper realized what happened he ran out and wept next to Alex. This was his owner and more importantly his best friend. Rick reached down to grab at Jasper. Jasper growled. He bared his teeth and Rick pulled out his gun. Jasper waited for Rick to get close enough and bit him on the hand hard. Rick pulled the trigger and Jasper fell to the ground. Jasper quietly whimpered and Rick walked away believing that Jasper was dead now. Jasper got up and bit him in the calf. As Rick fell to the floor Jasper moved toward his throat. Rick died and Jasper fell seconds after. Luckily for them people came out to find out what the noise was. They were able to save Alex and they were able to save Jasper. An animal may not always defend an owner but it will always defend a friend.Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01205717524899978942noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1822130934919575799.post-78883267108929252702009-03-30T20:53:00.000-07:002009-04-01T19:04:34.587-07:00The Green LadyIm so interested in Mythology and one thing that caught me was the stories of the glaistig. She is said to be of great beauty and wore a green gown which covers her curse, she has goat legs. She also has immortality. She is normally seen on the side of a stream washing something. She seems to be alot like the deer woman or Longana.

Credits to http://www.hollowhill.com/uk/scotland-greenlady2.htm
Photo credit to Mary Jane 2040

Short Story by Me (John Adams)

The town was only about 40 people making it very small and quiet, everyone there knew each other. Everyone seemed to have a place and everyone knew where they fit in. Georgia never felt like she fit in and the people of her town never let her forget it, she had been the only single woman in the town. Many of the people were appalled in the fact that a woman in her thirties was single and had never been with a man; this was made more shocking to the people since her beauty was overwhelming at times. She had long flowing blonde hair and beautiful brown eyes.

She had always wanted to find her soul mate and always dreamt of what he would look like, she was saddened when one day her grandmother had spoken to her about the matter of finding her a husband. She knew that it was time to do just that but there were only three single guys in the town. One was a widow named James, he had ran the butcher shop since he was a young man, and he was now in his late 50s and almost completely bald. Another was a 20 year old man named Louis who was the son of her neighbor and quiet handsome. He had always had a crush on her and she had known it, and the third was her cousin, so only two guys and only one was even decent for her. Upon the words of her grandmother she began spending more time with Louis. They began to fall in love and she knew that this was the man she was going to spend the rest of her life with.

The day before their wedding she had spotted a flying creature near the woods. She had followed it into the woods; it was glittering with light and never noticed her following it. She followed to a meadow within the woods. She amazed to find that it had finally noticed her. “Who are you?” it asked in a high voice. “I am Georgia, who are you? She replied. “I am Ula, why did you follow me?” “I saw your light and it just seemed right.” “What are you?” she asked. “Why I am a fairy, which means don’t tell anyone about me and as favor for not I will give you the best wedding dress” Ula said. “I won’t you have my promise.” she said. Just then a bright green dress appeared in the grass. You picked it up and tucked it into her bag. A noise came from out of the woods. “Georgia are you in there?” It was Louis. “I’m right here.” She said back. She looked back to see that Ula had disappeared, she began walking back and went back home.

The wedding the next day was amazing and more then Georgia had ever dreamt of. That night well lying with her husband she did something bad. “I don’t know you did it.” Louis said. “I don’t know how you got so beautiful, especially with that green dress, where did you find it?” “A friend gave it to me.” She said. “What friend?” he asked. Without thinking she said “Ula, a fairy.” Upon toughs’ words everything froze. She looked around there stood Ula. “I told you not to mention me.” She said. “For that you will be cursed.” She said. Georgia felt something change in her. Her legs were becoming more hairy, she looked at them and where her legs used to be was now a pair of goat legs; she had no feet only hooves. The green dress was hanging near the wall. She ran to it and put it on. It covered her now goat lower half. She ran out knowing that this was her life and the curse would forever ruin her happiness for her husband could never love her now.Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01205717524899978942noreply@blogger.com0
